Dangerous road conditions are continuing to cause problems around the capital region. Parkland County is asking for essential travel only Monday evening (Jan. 17) and overnight. Travel is not recommended on Highways 16, 16A, 43, 44, 770 and 779. Emergency Services and roadway maintenance vehicles are active throughout the county -- drivers are asked to slow down and give crews space to work. A tow ban is also in effect near Leduc, from 41 Avenue to Millet. Whiteout conditions are reported in the area, particularly along the QEII. Road surfaces in the Edmonton area and into the heartland are icy with blowing snow, drifting snow and strong wind gusts. "Stay put. Stay safe. It’s terrible out there! Probably the worst we’ve ever seen," Fort Saskatchewan business Titan Towing said on Facebook.
